About our Schools

School Background
We are a privately-held company with schools in Powell, Dublin, Lewis Center, and Hilliard, Ohio. Our first store, the Powell Academy of Music, opened in 2008 and our second location, the Lewis Center Music Academy, opened in June, 2017. Our third location opened in Hilliard in June of 2020. In 2022 we purchased First Choice Music Studio in Dublin, Ohio and then rebranded all four locations under the name Foundations Music Academy. We are the largest private music school in Columbus, OH and one of the fastest growing in the midwest. As a company that is locally owned and operated by music professionals, we understand the obstacles, frustrations, rewards, and challenges that teachers face every day when striving to provide top-notch educational services to their students.

In nearly 20 years in music education, we have built a set of systems that keep our faculty's time on teaching instead of paperwork, and we keep developing them.

The Role

The primary and most important job is to register students and to assist students and staff at the school. If you love music and are passionate about helping young people, this is the job for you.

When you join this team you are joining a small business that is growing quickly, which means real room to make your mark and shape how things run. The teamwork and the relaxed social environment sit alongside high expectations for growth and performance, and that combination is what makes the job work.

You will notice our application process asks more of you than simply submitting a resume. That is because this job is worth it. If you think you would be a good fit and would enjoy it, take your shot and fill out the application.

What you'll do

Handle phone, in-person and email inquiries, explaining fees, selling programs and answering questions. Register new students: scheduling, explaining policies, setting up automatic payments and data entry. Act as the liaison between teachers and students, keep head office informed of what is happening at the location, and manage teacher schedule changes. Plan and assist at recitals and events, help with teacher hiring and turnover, assist with interviewing and onboarding, and keep the facility clean.

What we're looking for

A love for working with people. Strong organizational skills. Reliable transportation. Basic computer and typing skills. Strong sales skills. Musical knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.

Training provided

The position starts with about four weeks of training, followed by ongoing sales and customer service training. We are looking for people who want to grow their skill set and are passionate about music and educating young people.

Compensation

Compensation starts at $17 per hour for admin positions. Additional raises and promotions may be granted based on growth and time with the company.

What our team is saying

“This is a fantastic place to work. I get to work with an amazing group of people, including my fellow managers and many talented music instructors. My position covers a wide range of responsibilities, from routine scheduling to larger ongoing projects, which means I develop a variety of skills and I am never bored. I have plenty of support and am encouraged to ask for help, but I still keep a high level of independence in my work. Most importantly, I feel genuinely valued as an employee and as a human being.”
Madeline Crone · Office Manager
“Working here has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Working with many music teachers and students is always exciting and fast-paced, but being there to see young kids fall in love with music for the first time is always such a treat. The job covers a lot of administrative tasks and requires someone to always be on their toes, as the lobby can get quite busy with musicians bustling in and out. It is such a fun place to work.”
Axl Pons · Office Manager
