Foundations Music Academy LLC · Effective January 1st, 2027
These policies let us reserve each student’s lesson time, pay our instructors fairly, and keep tuition affordable. They apply at all Foundations Music Academy locations. Thank you for respecting them.
Payment Procedures:
All private lessons are billed per the number of scheduled lessons each month, and all school holiday closures are excluded from tuition (closure dates are posted on our Calendar page). Tuition will be collected electronically in automatic payments on the first day of every month via our secure system. Students must provide a valid checking account number or credit card number (additional $4 per month for credit cards) at the time of enrollment. All charges will appear on your bank statement or credit card statement as being from Foundations Music Academy LLC. Enrollment continues month to month, including summer, until withdrawal notice is given. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice of any tuition change.
Failed Payments:
If a payment is declined, we will notify you and retry. Balances unpaid after 15 days incur a $15 late fee, and lessons may be paused until the account is current. Lesson times are not held for accounts paused longer than 30 days.
Credit Card Processing Fee:
An additional $4 credit card processing fee will be charged monthly to those who choose to use their credit card for automatic billing. Those using their checking account (ACH) will not be billed any additional processing fee. You may change methods any time by logging in to your account.
Student Cancellations:
Each student’s private lesson time is reserved exclusively for that student. We do not issue refunds or credits when students miss lessons, nor will we extend lessons due to a student’s late arrival. Because we understand that illness or special situations arise, all students will be permitted to attend one make-up lesson for every missed lesson for which a minimum of 24-hour notice is given to the front desk (not the instructor). Please keep students home when sick. For those situations, make-up lessons will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis as they are made available due to other student’s absences. Students will be permitted to choose a make-up lesson from the available make-up lesson times with their instructor. Make-up lessons are valid throughout the duration of the student's enrollment at the Academy, and expire only upon withdrawing.
Instructor Cancellations:
If your instructor needs to cancel a lesson, we will automatically add a make-up lesson pass to your account. If you would prefer a tuition credit instead, please contact the front desk. You will always receive timely notice of any instructor cancellation.
Inclement Weather or Other Emergency Closures:
If the school must cancel classes due to extreme weather or events beyond our control such as power outages, students will be given a make-up credit and may reschedule using our regular make-up lesson policy. No refunds for closures will be given. Closures will be announced by text and email.
Schedule Changes:
Requests to change lesson day, time, or instructor must be made through the front desk and are subject to availability.
Communication Opt-In:
By completing this agreement you are opting-in to receive text messages (SMS/MMS). These kinds of messages may include appointment reminders, scheduling changes, billing notifications, general information regarding lessons and events, links to sign up for events/recitals and promotional offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. You can opt-out of this service at any time. Just text “STOP” to the phone number. After you text “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS reply to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Withdrawal Policy:
We require 30 days notice to discontinue lessons. Withdrawal can be done in-person at the front desk, through calling the main school phone number or by emailing the office. Withdrawal must be done with our office staff and NOT with your instructor. Notice is effective the day the office receives it, and we will confirm by email. All automatic charges will stop after the 30 days notice period. The school reserves the right to terminate lessons for any reason. In this case a refund of any unused classes from the current month will be given.
Care of Students:
The school is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students. Parents with students under the age of 6 are to remain in the school during classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class.
Instructor Relationships:
While enrolled and for 12 months after withdrawal, families agree not to arrange private lessons with Foundations instructors outside the Academy.
Injuries:
Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for an injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class time.
Policy Updates:
We will notify families by email of any changes to these policies. Continued enrollment after notice constitutes acceptance.
